Teaching Philosophy

My personal and professional goals go hand-in-hand. I recently graduated with a Master of Fine Arts in Ceramics, which I believe will equip me in broadening the latitude of influence that I have with my students. I aspire to teach Sculpture, 3D Design, in addition to, Ceramics with William Carey University.

I want to reach students at the core of their life and influence them to be lifelong learners. I desire to give my students the best instruction and example possible that will enable them to confidently achieve in life.

I want to meet the student where they are and access, with them, where they want to go both academically and in life. I believe that students need an instructor who will give them room to explore their creativity while setting certain limits to ensure they stay on the right track.

Student success will be generated by creating a safe, caring, and positive atmosphere, and by working with students’ one on one, in group settings, and by using lessons and activities that will motivate students to become actively involved in the learning process.

It is also my responsibility to be a positive role model by working effectively with faculty and administrators. I represent a highly respected institution of higher learning in William Carey University. I will diligently work to protect and carry the spirit of “Carey” every where I go in life.
